Will I be charged penalties and late fees if I do not receive my payment confirmation by 11:59 p.m. on the payment due date?
When a customer makes a payment, the transaction will display a time stamp showing the exact date of the payment. For example, if a customer makes a payment at 11:30 p.m., despite the system processing time, you will receive a record of this payment and no late fees will apply.
To avoid late penalty or interest charges on your tax and utility bills, and to allow for payment processing time, payments must reach the City of Toronto on or before the due date (before end of day). If taxes and charges are overdue, payments are applied to the oldest outstanding balance first. Penalty, interest, and other fees will apply to any overdue amounts.
