How to Pay a City of Toronto Utility Bill Online

Paying your City of Toronto utility bill is easier than ever before thanks to MyToronto Pay. You can pay your taxes online or with the MyToronto Pay mobile app with ease, from the comfort and convenience of your own home. The MyToronto Pay platform, powered by PayIt, is a simple and straightforward way to pay both your utility bills and your property tax bills (see How to Pay a City of Toronto Property Tax Bill Online).

Follow these steps to learn how to pay your City of Toronto utility bill online.

Create a MyToronto Pay Account

First, go to My Toronto Pay or download the mobile app and click Get Started. To create an account with your email address, select Sign Up. You can also sign in with your Apple, Google, or Facebook profiles. 

My Toronto Pay users can also choose to Continue as Guest. But an account will save you time as your utility bill information is securely stored on your account profile. In addition, your account can also be used to pay your City of Toronto property tax bills.

Connect to a Utility Account on MyToronto Pay

To locate your utility account, click Connect Account under the “Utility” section on the MyToronto Pay dashboard. Review the information outlining the process and transaction fees, then click Agree and Continue. 

To locate your utility account, you will need to enter your Account Number, Client Number, your Last Name or Business Name as it appears on your bill, as well as the Last Payment Method used to pay the prior bill. Once you’ve entered that information, click the blue Submit button.

Once you find your utility account, click Yes, that’s it. Then you can choose to pay the total amount due, a partial amount, or to search for another account. 

No matter your choice, your payment amount will be automatically added to your cart. To checkout, select Go to cart, or click on the cart icon in the upper righthand corner of the webpage.

Adding a Payment Method

MyToronto Pay users can complete their utility bill payment with either a credit or debit card or a bank account.

Simply click Add Credit/Debit Card or Link Bank Account on the “Add Payment Method” pop up, fill out the necessary information, and click on the blue button at the bottom of the page.

After adding your payment method and confirming that your information is all correct, click the blue Pay $--.-- button to complete your City of Toronto utility bill payment. 

Once complete, you’ll receive a receipt and confirmation number via email.
